Science Grants for Schools

Overview

Primary and secondary schools across the UK can apply for funding to support practical science activities and enrichment.

Grants are provided by the Armourers & Brasiers’ Gauntlet Trust, a UK charity that supports science and materials science education.

What funding is available?

  • Primary schools: up to £600

  • Secondary schools: up to £1,000

What can the funding be used for?

Grants can support a range of science-related activities, including:

  • Purchasing equipment

  • Delivering science enrichment projects

  • Taking part in science events and competitions

Key dates

  • Applications open: 1 June 2026

  • Deadline: 31 July 2026 (11pm)

  • Funding awarded by: 4 September 2026

Applications typically open annually during this period.

Additional opportunities

The Trust also supports initiatives such as access to specialist equipment (e.g. a scanning electron microscope loan scheme), helping schools provide more advanced scientific experiences.
