What?
A superhero of the skies, Martin-Baker is a world-leader in the design and manufacturing of ejection seats.
Where?
Martin-Baker’s Denham HQ is steeped in history. What was once an aircraft factory, is now a sprawling campus where its ejection seats are taken from concept to creation. The site features a machine shop, sewing room, training center, test center, drawing office and more.
Why?
With its seats used in over 70 types of aircraft across 81 countries, Martin Baker has saved over 7,700 lives and won 11 Queen’s Awards for its incredible work – not bad for what started as a family-run business.
How?
By combining classroom study with on-the-job learning, Martin Baker’s Apprentice Scheme provides a solid foundation for a career in engineering, accounting, or as an electrician. The business also offers a number of opportunities for undergraduate students who are looking for a one-year placement as part of their degree programme.
Hitech Grand Prix
What?
Hitech is a single-seater racing team that helps drivers zoom from karting all the way up to just one step below Formula 1.
Where?
Hitech is based at Silverstone, the legendary home of British motor racing. From here, they compete in premier national and international motorsport championships.
Why?
Hitech’s mission is to find and train the next big racing stars. In just ten years, they’ve helped launch the careers of over 30 future champions, including famous George Russell, Paul Aron and Luke Browning.

Nammo UK
What?
Think powerful rocket engines that push spacecraft around Earth, land on the Moon and zoom off to other planets.
Where?
Since 1946, Nammo’s amazing rocket science hub has been based at Westcott Venture Park in Buckinghamshire.
Why?
One word: NASA. The famous space agency is one of Nammo’s biggest customers as its LEROS 1C engine is powering a mission to explore distant Trojan asteroids. This engine is one of the best ever made and will keep working hard until Lucy’s journey ends in 2027.
