The inspiring story of Dr Katrina Skerratt-Love

Space
High Performance Engineering

By her own admission, Dr Katrina Skerratt-Love was terrible at maths and flunked her A-Levels, partly due to undiagnosed dyslexia and undiagnosed autism. She is now a Royal Society Career Development Fellow studying how to make glass for windows that can withstand radiation in space and potentially enable humans to live on Mars.

In this Royal Society video, she speaks brilliantly about what she does and how she made it to where she is, including being the only girl - and only girl of colour - on her course. Along the way, she found her confidence and her voice, and came to terms with her sexuality, coming out as queer.

If there's one video you watch on social media today, make it this one!
