The war in Ukraine and the ensuing refugee crisis has focused people’s minds on what can be done to support all refugees from around the world that come to the UK seeking sanctuary. This page provides information for refugees seeking work in Buckinghamshire.
People arriving in the UK from Ukraine because of the Russian invasion can apply for financial help immediately and get extra help to find work.
If you were resident in Ukraine immediately before 1 January 2022 and are fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, you and your family can apply for benefits from the day you arrive in the UK.
Adviza can help support refugees who are finding their lives being affected by unforeseen, terrible circumstances.
They provide careers information, advice and employability support to those seeking work across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and the South West of England.
Support includes:
Writing CVs, cover letter and applications
Help to find jobs
Identifying skills and qualifications
Preparing for interviews
Guidance in finding learning and training courses: at colleges, universities, training and apprenticeship providers
Careers information, advice and guidance for young people
Connecting with employers.

The Skill Up Bucks project can provide all refugees aged 17+, living in Buckinghamshire (excluding MK) with support to find employment. You will be offered a 1-2-1 appointment with a careers adviser who can support you in the areas below.
Review your career history and identify transferable skills.
Provide advice and guidance on the local labour market.
Support in developing employability tools such as CV, cover letter, etc.
Provide guidance on using job portals such as the Bucks Skills Hub.
Inform you of local employability events.
Provide a warm handover to other services for more intensive support if required.

Jobcentre Plus is a government-funded employment agency and social security office that can be found in most cities, whose aim it is to help people of working age find employment in the UK. It is a part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Jobcentre Plus provides resources to enable job-searchers to find work, through Jobpoints (touch-screen computer terminals), Jobseeker Direct (telephone service) and the Jobcentre Plus website.
Jobcentre Plus only provides assistance to those who are unemployed and claiming benefits, though anyone can search for a job at the Jobcentre Plus website online, touch screen Jobpoints or via Jobseeker Direct.
The Oasis Partnership is committed to supporting residents of Buckinghamshire who are aged 18 and over to overcome isolation and engage with ser-vices. This includes support with developing job search skills relevant to the UK job market and sup-porting approaches to job opportunities.
All aspects of their work are open to Ukrainian adults.
