Overview

The Green Schools Challenge is an inspiring project designed to tackle environmental issues while developing employability skills in young people. This initiative empowers students to engage in practical, hands-on activities that promote sustainability and prepare them for future careers.

Objectives

  • To provide a unique, interactive challenge that equips students with practical skills in collaboration, organisation, and modern workplace competencies.

  • To raise awareness about environmental issues and green skills, offering tangible solutions.

  • To enhance students’ critical thinking, time-management, collaboration, creativity, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

Key Activities

  • Interactive sessions on sustainability topics.

  • School-based initiatives supported by local businesses.

  • Incorporates a visit to the workplace.

Business Support and Partnerships

The Green Schools Challenge empowers young people to tackle environmental issues with the backing of local businesses. This initiative not only inspires students to pursue green careers but also helps them develop essential employability skills through collaborative and creative challenges. By fostering mutually beneficial relationships between schools and businesses, it promotes mutual learning and lasting partnerships.

The challenge is supported by companies such as Softcat, Biffa, Shellwin Real Estate, Zenopa, FCC Environment, CS Construction Specialties, and Whiffaway.
