Labour Market Information - Lesson plan for students with SEND

Labour Market Information (LMI) describes the world of work – ranging from descriptions of different careers, their entry routes, salaries paid, skills and qualifications needed, etc. Crucially for young people, LMI also covers future demand – what kinds of jobs will be in demand after leaving school and what kinds of skills will be needed?

We have produced a 30-40 minute flexible lesson plan for teaching staff to deliver to young people with SEND. It is written in line with National Curriculum careers learning outcomes and mapped to the CDI framework.

There is a teacher guide and an accompanying PowerPoint presentation, and we’ve created a white-on-black and a black-on-white version to help readability for those students who need it.

It’s designed so that any teacher can simply start using it without any prior preparation and it’s even editable so staff can change the font to suit their student’s needs.
