Looking for a chance for local young people to gain trade and construction work experience? We have an opportunity that might be a perfect fit for those you support.
VIY is a social enterprise that equips young people with employability skills, mentoring, and training through bite-sized trade and construction work experience opportunities. Funded by The Shanly Foundation and Aylesbury Community Board, VIY is bringing this initiative to Aylesbury. Young people can volunteer to help renovate a community venue, gaining new skills and experiencing life as a tradesperson over a few days on-site. These projects are designed to be accessible, requiring only a low-level commitment of three days to gain accreditation and insights into trades, alongside broader employability and soft skills.
Here's what the projects offer young people:
Bite-sized work experience opportunities to learn construction trade skills and boost employability.
On-site mentoring by professional tradespeople.
Opportunity to gain Entry Level 3 City & Guilds trade skills accreditations.
Support and guidance for those interested in further opportunities in the trade and construction sector.
Flexible scheduling.
