Oxford Flash Fiction Competition (French / Spanish / German)

The University of Oxford’s Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages has opened its Flash Fiction Competitions in French, Spanish and German, inviting secondary school students to submit a complete story of no more than 100 words.

Entries are judged by Oxford academics, looking for creativity, imagination and narrative flair, as well as linguistic accuracy (considered in the context of age and year group).

Who can enter: Years 7–9, Years 10–11, and Years 12–13 categories.
Prizes: Top prize of £100, plus runner-up prizes (as outlined by Oxford).
Deadline: 12 noon, 31 March 2026.
