What is it?
Green Futures is a Buckinghamshire based project. One of it's aims is to help showcase what careers are available in the outdoor environment and how young people can access jobs connected to land and nature.
The Aim
Green Futures is going to
Create new local career pathways into the Green Economy for young people from minority groups, challenging or disadvantaged backgrounds.
give careers advice and support, through safe and empowering experiences for young people aged 11-17 years from marginalised backgrounds.
Support organisations to trial new collaborative projects which support young people to develop green employability skills and enhance the local food and farming sector.
Central to the project will be the creation of a ‘Green Futures Network’ of passionate and like minded schools, youth organisations and social enterprises/ charities/ businesses in the progressive food and farming sector. They will be offering funded pilot partnership projects, work experience placements and sector exposure visits; with careers talks and event across the county promoting green jobs and careers. All to generate innovation and collaboration between all the great work that happens across the county.
The Green Futures Team are able to offering mentoring sessions as well as training opportunities for all organisations involved, from health & safety to safeguarding or topics like working with young people with additional needs or inclusive employment practice.
