Overview

The Met Office offers a free online work experience programme designed to give students insight into careers in science, technology and data.

The programme is flexible, interactive and can be completed at any time, making it ideal for students looking to build experience and explore future careers.

What is the programme?

This virtual work experience provides an introduction to different teams and roles at the Met Office, including forecasting, engineering, data science and communications.

Students take part in:

  • Interactive activities and projects

  • Videos and learning modules

  • Online chat with Met Office staff

The experience is designed to replicate aspects of working remotely and helps students develop key employability skills.

Who is it for?

  • Students aged 13–18

  • SEND students aged 18+

  • Open to all UK students

Places are:

  • ✅ Free
