If you’ve been keeping up with David Attenborough’s latest Frozen Planet series, you’ll be aware of the devastating effects rising sea levels are having on habitats. It’s no surprise then, that around 60% of young people are ‘worried’ or ‘extremely worried’ about climate change.
Enter Green Careers Week (7th-12th November). The exciting new initiative aims to educate the future workforce (that’s you!) about emerging technologies and opportunities that will change the world for the better. You can keep up with all the live action from the week on Twitter, but until then, here are some key events to add to your diary.
Tuesday 8th November
Ever heard of Care Farming? The unique form of therapy provides a structured programme of farm-related activity for people with health and social care needs. To find out more about this sustainable career choice, join Green Futures’ Exploring Opportunities in Care Farming webinar.
Wednesday 9th November

Thursday 10th November
New for 2022, the online Protecting Our Planet Day programme features back-to-back linkups, talks and activities led by innovators and experts working to tackle climate change. We’re most looking forward to the ‘Protecting Our Planet Through Science’ session, where panellists will reveal their journeys from studying STEM subjects to becoming hidden heroes involved in ground-breaking innovations.
If you can’t wait for 7th November to come around, the Met Office’s People in Weather and Climate and BBC’s Jobs to Protect the Planet resources are brimming with useful information, which is available to view now. Or visit Stem Ambassadors: Careers in Climate Change, a 360-degree online careers exhibition exploring the work of those mitigating and adapting to the challenge of climate change.
