Five things you didn’t know about De Soutter

Manufacturing

The countdown to Bucks Skills Show 2025 is on! Our annual experiential careers fair will be popping up in Stoke Mandeville Stadium on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th March, which gives you just under three months to bag a free ticket – parents can take students between 16:00 and 20:00 on Wednesday – and get acquainted with our brilliant headline sponsor, De Soutter Medical Ltd.

“After a wonderful experience in 2024, where we met with a huge number of talented and enthusiastic attendees, we are looking forward to being part of this exciting and busy event once again.”

As a specialist in the development, production and distribution of powered tools for surgical procedures, De Soutter has a huge number of departments that require a range of skills and professions. From engineering and finance to marketing and sales, the team will be on hand to answer all your burning questions about the varied careers available in manufacturing.

If you can’t wait until March to find out more, here are five surprising facts about the local business.

  1. A proud Bucks-based business, De Soutter Medical was awarded the official Made In Britain trademark in 2024. This accreditation recognises the business’ ongoing commitment to sourcing materials from and manufacturing in the British Isles.

  1. De Soutter sells a lot of equipment to UK hospitals, but did you know it also exports globally? At the last count, its equipment was being used in 107 countries around the world!

  1. Roll out the red carpet… De Soutter’s tools have starred in Holby City, Silent Witness and Sex Education, so playing spot the cameo has fast become an obsession among its employees.

  1. De Soutter takes its carbon credentials very seriously. Not only has the business installed solar panels at its site in Aston Clinton, which creates enough electricity to charge a mobile phone for 257,752 years, it also designed the ECOPulse. The first tool of its kind, the EcoPulse has avoided 155,480 batteries being disposed of in landfill sites over the last 12 months.

  1. The De Soutter family has been engineering for over 100 years. They were involved in watchmaking, aviation, artificial limbs and industrial power tools, before specialising in medical devices. De Soutter’s latest development is a robot that can assist surgeons, which the team will be demonstrating at Bucks Skills Show. You know what you need to do to see it in action…
