The 2025 Future of STEM Competition is a unique opportunity for students aged 14-19 to showcase their research and problem-solving skills in addressing pressing global challenges.

The Scholarly Service Society, a youth-run non-profit is partnering with another non-profit and an organisation called Leaf in order to deliver the competition, with £275 available in prizes for the highest performing entries.

The competition revolves around choosing a problem affecting our future, performing research in an area of STEM of your choice, and presenting a solution that links to this. Your task is to create a form of visual media summarising all of this, alongside an abstract.

The prizes include a £75 top prize alongside opportunities for mentorship from professionals in your field and also a chance to get direct entry into Leaf's high competitive 2026 Finalist Cohort!

This can definitely go on your personal statement, CV, or is just a really good way to show off your subject interest and research skills.

Submissions open on 15th September and the deadline is 8th October.

You can find all the details you need on the website, including the link to sign up.

Good luck with your research!
