Charities and schools across England and Wales can apply for grants to improve learning opportunities for children and young adults, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds or those with disabilities or special educational needs (SEND).
The Bernard Sunley Foundation's Education Grants Programme provides funding for capital projects that enhance learning experiences and help young people develop valuable life skills. The Foundation is particularly keen to support projects that encourage outdoor learning and new experiences.
Funding is available at three levels:
Small grants of up to £5,000
Medium grants of up to £20,000
Large grants of £25,000 and above
The programme supports capital projects rather than day-to-day running costs. Eligible projects can include new buildings, refurbishments, recreational and outdoor learning spaces, equipment, and essential vehicles such as minibuses. The Foundation generally supports projects with overall costs of more than £10,000.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with no application deadlines, allowing organisations to submit proposals throughout the year.
