Funding Available for School Geography Fieldwork and Expeditions

Schools across the UK and Ireland can apply for grants of up to £600 to support geography fieldwork and expeditions through the Frederick Soddy Schools Award programme, delivered in association with the Royal Geographical Society. The funding is available to schools undertaking fieldwork with a strong element of human geography and aims to give young people aged 5 to 18 the opportunity to benefit from valuable hands-on learning experiences, regardless of their background or circumstances. Previous awards have supported field trips and projects in locations including the Eden Project and Snowdonia. Applications are assessed on the merits of each project, with priority given to schools that did not receive funding in the previous year. The closing date for applications is 30 November 2026.
