Financial and Professional Services

Ashurst, a leading global law firm specializing in commercial law, is excited to announce the Access Law programme for secondary school students across the UK. With offices in London and Glasgow, Ashurst is committed to providing students with the opportunity to explore a career in law through a series of virtual events and mentoring support.

What's on Offer?

The Access Law programme offers students a comprehensive understanding of the legal profession and the pathways to success within it. This initiative includes virtual events and mentoring support to help students gain insights into the legal sector.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Interested in studying law at university or gaining employment in a law-related field after school/university.

  • Studying in the UK and in Year 12/13 (England & Wales); S5/S6 (Scotland); Year 13/14 (Northern Ireland); or 5th/6th Year (Republic of Ireland).

  • Attending a state-funded, non-fee-paying school/college or a fee-paying school on a 100% bursary.

  • Meeting one or more of the additional criteria outlined on the Access Law webpage.

How to Apply:

Visit the Access Law webpage to learn more about the opportunity and to apply. For any questions, contact SocialImpact@ashurst.com. Applications open in August 2025 and close in October 2025.

Student Testimonial:

"The Access Law programme has played a huge role in demystifying careers in commercial law and addressing misconceptions about work in the legal sector. It has helped me understand different career pathways, the nature of work in the commercial sector, and the session on recruitment top tips was invaluable in informing my approach to future applications. Going forward, I feel more prepared and confident to apply to schemes with firms, having learnt through interactions with legal professionals as part of the programme that there is no one specific 'type' of person that is suitable to be a lawyer." - Access Law student, Reading
