Improve your confidence with numbers

People of all ages and backgrounds can struggle with numbers, with some people finding numeracy more challenging than others. Here are some resources to help you feel happier about using numbers in education and daily life.

Remember: Everyone can help children with maths – even adults who might struggle with maths themselves. You don't need to be an expert - the resources and guidance are there to support everyone.

National Numeracy Challenge

The National Numeracy Challenge is an online learning tool that over half a million people have already used.

It's a free, confidential, online way to improve your numeracy. It starts with a quick check of your skills, which makes a learning area just for you so you can learn the skills you need.

Number Confidence Week

Number Confidence Week takes place from 3rd-7th November and there are loads of activities, tips and stories to help you build calm and resilience when faced with numbers. Visit the Number Confidence Week website to get started.

Maths toolkits and resources for families

The National Numeracy website has lots of advice, ideas and materials to help children feel good about numbers.

The Family Maths Toolkit contains short, fun maths activities and resources to help families enjoy maths together.

One area where maths is very improtant is money. There are age-appropriate resources for children from age 3 upwards that introduce the concept of money and maths.

Barclays LifeSkills - teaching maths and money confidence

Evidence shows that talking about everyday maths helps children develop stronger numeracy skills and a positive attitude towards managing money.
