The role is within the Imaging Physics and Radiation Protection group at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Healthcare Science Practitioner Trainee/Degree Apprentice. ( 3 years)
Working with Scientists and Technologists to help deliver radiation assurance services via a Healthcare Science Degree Apprenticeship Programme.
You would be supported through a three-year, day release BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Radiation Physics) at the University of the West of England, commencing September 2026 within the apprenticeship programme, towards the goal of successful registration with the Academy of Healthcare Science and Register of Clinical Technologists.
Successful candidates can commence work with us prior to this course commencement date, depending on individual circumstances gaining valuable experience with us.
A career as a radiation physicist involves a blend of physics, healthcare, and technology, requiring a strong educational foundation and a commitment to patient safety and effective treatment methodologies.
It offers valuable experience working alongside scientists and technologists to support radiation assurance services across NHS Trusts.

Essential criteria
Minimum 104 UCAS tariff points from maximum of 3 A level (or equivalent), to include A-level in a STEM subject with minimum of 32 points, or predicted grades.
Good time management and planning skills to ensure successful completion of the Practitioner Training Programme.
Able to communicate technical information and present verbally or written work in meetings.
Enthusiastic and highly motivated individual.
Able to use Excel, Word, Access etc. to set up documents and spreadsheets and extract information.
